Pre-Tour – Stay overnight in Beijing
Arrive into Beijing the day before your tour is scheduled to begin as the tour commences in the morning. Alternatively, we can also schedule the tour to begin from Beijing Airport or Beijing Railway Station upon your arrival.

  

Day 1 – Stay overnight in Beijing
Your adventure in Beijing begins with a visit to the awe-inspiring Forbidden City, the former imperial palace where Chinese emperors ruled for over 5000 years. As you walk through its grand halls and courtyards, you’ll gain insight into China’s imperial history and architectural mastery. Afterwards, enjoy a Traditional Chinese Lunch at a nearby restaurant, where you can sample local flavors and regional specialties.

  

During the afternoon, embark on a leisurely hike up Jingshan Hill, where the elevated viewpoint offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Forbidden City and the sprawling city of Beijing. The beauty of the ancient palaces against the backdrop of the modern city is a sight to behold.

  

Later, immerse yourself in the charm of Beijing’s Ancient Hutongs, which date back to the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. These picturesque streets offer a glimpse into local life and the city’s rich cultural heritage. In the evening, indulge in a Peking Duck dinner at a renowned restaurant, where this iconic dish is prepared to perfection, providing a fitting end to your first day in China’s capital city.

Day 2 – Stay overnight in Beijing
Today, our tour guide and driver will meet you at your Beijing Hotel Lobby at 7:30 am. Meeting time is flexible as it is a private tour so please discuss beforehand if you have a preferred starting time but we recommend an earlier start.

   

Your day begins with a departure for the iconic Great Wall of China, one of the world’s most remarkable architectural feats. Upon arrival, you’ll explore the wall and enjoy a private champagne picnic with breathtaking views of the Wall winding across the rugged terrain. Take in the stunning vistas that stretch across the landscape, feeling the historical significance of this ancient structure built to protect China’s Northern Borders. Afterwards, continue your exploration of the Wall, learning about its history, architecture and strategic importance while walking along its ancient stones, surrounded by rolling hills and forested landscapes.

   

For lunch, relax at a local restaurant near the Great Wall, savoring traditional Chinese dishes. In the afternoon, you may choose to visit nearby scenic spots or continue your journey along the Wall, exploring further sections that offer diverse perspectives of this marvel. As the day winds down, return to Beijing, where the evening is yours to enjoy at leisure. Whether you choose to unwind at your hotel or venture out to explore more of the city, you’ll have time to reflect on the day’s adventures.

Day 3 – Stay overnight in Beijing
Start your day with a journey Northeast to the Jinshanling Section of the Great Wall of China.  This section is an area that is far less crowded, some beautifully restored sections (some original) and sweeping panoramic views. This section of the Wall offers a more tranquil experience, allowing you to appreciate the immense scale and beauty of this historical structure without the crowds.

   

Upon arrival, embark on a guided hike along the Wall, navigating its steep gradients and ancient stone steps, while taking in the breathtaking vistas that surround you. The nearby lake adds an extra element of serenity to the landscape, making for an unforgettable experience.

  

At midday, you’ll enjoy a picnic lunch on the Wall itself, surrounded by 360 degree views of the mountains stretching far into the distance. The setting is peaceful, with the majestic landscape offering a perfect backdrop to your meal. During the afternoon, continue to explore the Jinshanling Greaat Wall of China’s unique architecture and natural surroundings, marveling at the impressive watchtowers and fortifications that stand as a testament to Ancient China’s engineering prowess.

Day 4 – Stay overnight in Xi’an
Today begins with a peaceful Private Tai Chi class at the Temple of Heaven, one of Beijing’s most revered landmarks. This tranquil setting, with its stunning architecture and serene atmosphere, provides the perfect backdrop to learn the flowing movements of Tai Chi, an ancient Chinese practice focused on balance and mindfulness. After your class, take time to explore the expansive Temple of Heaven grounds, a UNESCO World Heritage site that has stood for centuries as a symbol of China’s spiritual heritage. Wander through the vast complex, admiring the intricate designs and the historical significance of this place, where emperors once performed rituals to ensure good harvests.

  

Following your exploration, enjoy a light lunch in Beijing before preparing for your departure to Xi’an. In the early afternoon, transfer to the High Speed Railway Station for your train to Xi’an. Upon arrival in Xi’an, check in to your hotel and spend the evening at your leisure. Whether you choose to relax after your journey or begin to explore Xi’an’s ancient streets, the evening is yours to enjoy at your own pace.

Day 5 – Stay overnight in Xi’an
In the morning, your tour guide and driver will meet you at your Xi’an Hotel and transfer to the Xi’an Ancient City Wall.  This City Wall is a massive 12 meter high structure in central Xi’an. As you stroll along its length, you’ll be treated to sweeping views of both the historical city center of Xi’an and its modern skyline, showcasing a fascinating contrast between the old and new.

   

Next, visit the world-famous Terracotta Warriors, where thousands of life-sized statues, each with unique features, guard the tomb of China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang. The sheer scale and detail of this site are sure to leave you in awe. Afterwards, enjoy a local lunch, where you can sample some of Xi’an’s regional delicacies, renowned for their bold flavors and unique ingredients.

  

In the afternoon, visit the Great Mosque, one of China’s oldest and most culturally significant mosques, and immerse yourself in the city’s rich 1,300-year-old Muslim heritage. Then take a walk through the lively Muslim Quarter, where you can experience the vibrant street life, shop for local goods, and taste authentic snacks like lamb skewers and freshly made flatbreads.  End your day with a fun and interactive dumpling-making class, where you’ll learn how to prepare Xi’an’s famous dumplings and most importantly, enjoy eating them!

Day 6 – Stay overnight in Chengdu
Your day begins with a visit to the Hanyang Tombs, an impressive archaeological site from the Western Han dynasty. Walk across a thrilling glass walkway suspended above countless terracotta figurines and burial objects, giving you a unique and up-close view of the artifacts. As you explore the tombs, your guide will share fascinating details about the Western Han dynasty and the tomb’s historical significance.

   

Afterwards, enjoy a delicious local lunch in Xi’an, sampling some of the region’s specialties before preparing for your departure with time at leisure. In the afternoon, transfer to Xi’an Airport for your flight to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province. Upon arrival into Chengdu, check in to your hotel and take some time to relax.

  

Then, as an optional extra, venture to the city center to explore the lively Kuan Zhai Alleyways, a charming area known for its traditional architecture, local shops, and vibrant atmosphere, offering a true taste of Chengdu’s culture.  As the evening sets in, immerse yourself in a mesmerizing Sichuanese “Face-changing” Opera, where performers use rapid costume changes and incredible skill to captivate the audience, showcasing one of the region’s most unique and entertaining art forms. Day 7 – Stay overnight in Chengdu
Commence today’s itinerary with a scenic drive of approximately 1.5 hours from Chengdu to the Dujiangyan Panda Base.  At Dujiangyan you’ll have the opportunity to get up close with the iconic Giant Pandas. As you observe these playful creatures in their natural habitat, you’ll learn about the important conservation efforts aimed at preserving this beloved species.  After spending time with these magnificent animals, enjoy a local lunch before continuing to your next destination.

   

In the afternoon, take a scenic Cable Car ride up Qingcheng Mountain, often referred to as ‘the most peaceful and secluded mountain under heaven’. As you ascend, take in the breathtaking views of the lush landscape that surrounds you. Upon reaching the top, embark on a peaceful walk along the mountain trail, where you’ll explore ancient temples nestled in the verdant forest and experience the serene atmosphere that has made this mountain a place of spiritual significance for centuries.

​Day 8 – Stay overnight in Dali
Start your day by checking out of your hotel, meeting our team and being transferred to Chengdu Airport for your flight to Dali.  The town of Dali is a charming town nestled in the foothills of the Cangshan Mountains. Upon arriving at Dali Airport, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for check-in where you can settle in and take a moment to relax before your afternoon adventures.

Afterwards, enjoy a leisurely lunch at a local restaurant, where you’ll sample the flavors of the region, known for its fresh ingredients and unique local dishes.
The afternoon is yours to explore at your own pace. You can wander through Dali’s old streets, with their laid-back vibe and historical charm or simply unwind at your hotel, enjoying the tranquil surroundings.

In the evening, head out for a stroll through Dali’s picturesque Old Town. The area is filled with ancient pagodas, traditional red lanterns and breathtaking views of the nearby mountains, creating a magical setting as the day transitions to night. 

​Day 9 – Stay overnight in Dali
Begin your day with a visit to Weibaoshan, a sacred mountain known for its ancient Taoist temples and spiritual significance. Day 10 – Stay overnight in Dali
In the morning, your private guide will meet you at your Dali Hotel lobby and begin the journey to Xizhou – a picturesque village known for its well-preserved Bai architecture. As you stroll through the village, you’ll be struck by the ornate gateways and intricate honeycomb patterns that adorn the traditional buildings, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Bai ethnic minority. These architectural details tell stories of the past and offer a glimpse into the region’s history.

   

Following village exploration, dive deeper into the local culture with a hands-on experience of making ‘rushan’, which is a unique cheese made from goat’s milk. Learn the traditional methods used by the Bai people and discover how this cheese is an integral part of their culinary traditions.

Day 11 – Stay overnight in Lijiang
This morning, check out from your Dali Hotel and the next stage of your journey begins with a scenic drive from Dali to Lijiang, a town renowned for its stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage. En route, make a stop at the 1,300-year-old Shibaoshan Grottoes, an ancient site that features fascinating Buddhist carvings and statues etched into the mountainside. This historical treasure offers a glimpse into the region’s deep Buddhist heritage, with each grotto telling its own unique story. As you explore the site, your guide will share the significance of these carvings, revealing how they have been preserved over the centuries.

  

Afterwards, enjoy a traditional lunch in a nearby village, where you can savor authentic local dishes before continuing your journey to Lijiang. In the afternoon, complete your visit with a stop at the Stone Bell Temple, a beautiful temple perched on the mountainside. Next, head to Shuhe Ancient Town, one of the oldest settlements in the Lijiang area. This charming town is known for its preserved Naxi architecture and peaceful ambiance. Wander through its narrow lanes, and you’ll be transported back in time, soaking in the tranquil atmosphere and learning about the traditional lifestyle of the Naxi people. Afterward, enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of Shuhe’s quaint local restaurants, where you’ll have the opportunity to sample Naxi cuisine, known for its unique blend of flavors and fresh ingredients.

Day 13 – Stay overnight in Lijiang

Day 14 – Stay overnight in Shanghai

In the morning, you’ll check out of your Lijiang Hotel and be transferred to Lijiang airport for your departure flight to Shanghai.
